Sermon Series- During Lent

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells his disciples, “You are the light of the world.”                                  By this, he means that we really have something to say to the world, something life giving and good:
The Good News of Jesus Christ.
This Lent we are going to hold a mirror up to ourselves and ask “are we willing witnesses to Christ, or are we reluctant, are we hiding our light”?
Each Sunday in Lent, we’ll look at five witnesses in the Gospel of John as a way to talk about ways that we can brighten our own witness in the world.
On Sunday March 1, we’ll look at the witness of John the Baptist in John 1:29-34                                           (“Look, the Lamb of God!”).
On March 8, the witness of Nathaniel in John 1:43-51 (“You are the Son of God”).
On March 15, the witness of Peter in John 6:66-69 (“We know you are the Holy One of God.”).
On March 22, the witness of Jesus Himself in John 10:22-30 (“I and the Father are One”).
On March 29, the witness of Martha in John 11:17-27 (“I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world”).
Then on Palm Sunday, April 5, we begin our Holy Week, which will lead us to the glorious witness of the Resurrection. (More details about the activities of Holy Week and Easter are forthcoming)
So plan to come every Sunday, and bring your Bibles.
We want to brighten our witness to God’s mighty goodness and grace in Christ Jesus,
so that we can indeed save some souls!
As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”                             not only with actions, but with good words as well!
